The Angel Hotel is a privately owned hotel and has been closely associated with the historic town of Midhurst and the neighbouring Cowdray Estate since the 16th Century, and is a fine example of an old English coaching inn, but with all the modern comforts.

Situated at the crossroads of major N-S and E-W routes it is a convenient location for guests to meet from London to the North and Brighton and other coastal towns to the South.

Best described as a Town and Country hotel, the front of The Angel overlooks the town and to the rear, behind flower filled courtyards and peaceful rose gardens, lie open meadows and the atmospheric ruins of Cowdray Castle . The view from our gardens can provide a stunning back drop to your happy occasion.

Your special day - on this, the happiest day of your life, we at The Angel understand you should have the peace of mind that all will go as planned. One of the shortest but all embracing comments fed back from a happy couple, simply said – “You listened and put into effect our every wish and left not a stone unturned. Thank you.”

From the grandest of marquee celebrations in our walled garden, or a large indoor function in the beautiful Cowdray Room to the smaller intimate rooms, the historical Court Room (it actually was the Court room for Midhurst at one time !) and the Garden Room, we have the choice of setting in which to customise your occasion.

What's on offer

Together with the choice of rooms or marquees, we can offer ceremony styles to suit all, be it a civil partnership, commitment ceremony or partnership registration.

Whilst Saturdays are always in high demand, we have put together a number of special midweek packages at a range of prices to suit all. These can save you money over the more popular dates, but at the same time we will always customise these to your exact requirements in regular ongoing discussion with our functions team.

We have 28 bedrooms, beautifully furnished, many with four posters and lovely views over our gardens.
